Pregnancy Week 16

You're Pregnant! Week 16

Now that you're feeling so much better, take the time to start preparing for baby. Plan for what supplies you'll need. Will you use a bassinet or a crib? Will baby need a stroller or do you plan to wear baby in one of the many comfortable baby wraps on the market? Will you use cloth or disposable diapers? These decisions will need to be made. If you are planning a special room for baby, you'll want to think about decorating and what furniture you want to include. Do you want a crib for baby’s room and a bassinet to put in your room? What theme do you want? There are lots of theme bedding and accessories available on line. Your local store might just have one or two, but you have a much wider selection online.

You most likely will have more energy now. You may have been very tired and a little queasy up to now. Since you aren’t too big yet, you may try to catch up on all of the things you just didn’t have the energy to do. Be careful not to overdo! Be sure to take it slow and put your feet up every once in a while. If you start planning the nursery now, you will have plenty of time to get the job done. No need to hurry.

YOUR BABY

Your baby's bones are continuing to harden. The nerves throughout baby's body are continuing to grow and make ever more complex connections. The senses are all developing already. If your baby is a girl, her ovaries are developing and she already has all the follicles that will become her future eggs. Baby is about 5.5 inches long.

YOUR BODY

You may notice your Braxton Hicks contractions more than before. You may also notice that you have a whitish, vaginal discharge. This is normal, as long as there is no foul odor or itching. It will likely continue to increase as your pregnancy progresses.

You may find yourself feeling more sexy than you did during the first trimester. With increased blood flow to your vagina and uterus, this is not surprising. If your interest in sex has increased, go ahead and enjoy yourself with your partner. Unless your care giver has given you a medical reason not to, such as vaginal bleeding, problems with your cervix or signs of premature labor, sex is safe during pregnancy. It won't bother your baby, either. In fact, repetitive movements like walking and such can lull baby to sleep. As your pregnancy progresses, you may find you need to get more creative to accommodate your growing belly. This is perfectly normal. If you have any questions about what is safe, be sure to speak with your care provider.

At From Pregnancy To Baby, we try to provide you with all of the latest information about going through your pregnancy from your first trimester to the first years of your new babies life. We also provide the highest quality books and products to help you through that time.
